CDP Türkiye 16th Climate Change & Nature Conference and Awards Ceremony Held

The 2025 Türkiye results and leading companies of CDP, the world’s largest environmental disclosure platform, whose Türkiye operations are carried out by Sabancı University Corporate Governance Forum, were announced on Thursday, May 15, 2026, at the “CDP Türkiye 16th Climate Change & Nature Conference and Awards Ceremony.”

Held under the theme “Towards COP31: Turning Reporting Momentum into Global Competitiveness,” the conference featured the public release of the “CDP Türkiye 2025 Climate Change and Nature Report,” presenting CDP Türkiye’s analyses and findings for 2025. Companies recognized as leaders according to CDP’s Global Scoring Methodology were also awarded during the ceremony. A total of 45 companies from Türkiye were included in at least one CDP Global A List, while 5 companies from Türkiye succeeded in reaching the Triple A level, achieved by only 27 companies globally.

CDP Türkiye 16th Climate Change & Nature Conference

The opening speech of the conference was delivered by Cemal Onaran, Deputy General Manager of Garanti BBVA. This was followed by a video message from Dan Ioschpe, COP30 High-Level Climate Champion, who emphasized that environmental disclosure has become a global standard and a fundamental requirement for the business world.

Hans-Juergen Walter, Deloitte Global Sustainability Finance Leader, stated that companies should consider reporting not merely as a compliance obligation, but also as a strategic tool for creating competitive advantage.

In his speech, Pietro Bertazzi, CDP Policy and Growth Director, noted that disclosures made by companies in Türkiye through CDP demonstrate that leading companies are not only setting high standards in environmental performance, but are also achieving commercial gains.

Mirhan Köroğlu Göğüş, CDP Türkiye Country Director, presented the results of the “CDP Türkiye 2025 Climate Change and Nature Report,” stating: “It is clearly evident that environmental governance structures in Türkiye are built on a strong institutional foundation. In the coming period, companies should prioritize strengthening their existing reporting infrastructure through deeper integration, broader environmental scope, and more consistent implementation outcomes.”

“2026 Triple A Leaders Panel”

As part of the conference, the “2026 Triple A Leaders Panel” was held under the moderation of Ozan Duygulu, Director of the Sabancı University Corporate Governance Forum.

The panel featured Mevhibe Canan Özsoy, Board Member of Garanti BBVA; Türker Tunalı, CFO of Akbank; and Kutay Kartallıoğlu, CEO of CarrefourSA, as speakers. Discussions focused on sustainable finance, the transition to a low-carbon economy, and the strategic management of sustainability.

CDP Türkiye 2026 Awards Ceremony

At the end of the program, the CDP Türkiye 2026 Awards Ceremony recognized the 45 companies that succeeded in entering the CDP Global A Lists.

The opening remarks of the Awards Ceremony were delivered by Dr. Fatih Kemal Ebiçlioğlu, Vice Chairman of the TÜSİAD Board of Directors, and Murat Yünlü, Vice President of the Public Oversight, Accounting and Auditing Standards Authority (KGK).

During the ceremony, awards were also presented to the municipalities that made it onto the “CDP Cities A List.” The awards were received by Serhat Taşkınsu, Secretary General of Ankara Metropolitan Municipality, and Prof. Dr. Ayşen Erdinçler, Head of the Environmental Protection and Control Department of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality.

Türkiye Has Reached a Strong Global Position in Environmental Disclosure

The “CDP Türkiye 2025 Climate Change and Nature Report” shared during the conference pointed to significant progress in environmental disclosure and performance in Türkiye.

In 2025, more than 22,100 companies worldwide disclosed environmental data through CDP, while a total of 45 companies from Türkiye were included in at least one CDP Global A List. Five companies from Türkiye reached the Triple A level, achieved by only 27 companies globally. In addition, 17 companies attained Double A status.

The results demonstrated that Türkiye has become one of the leading markets within the CDP ecosystem in terms of environmental performance.

The Relationship Between Environmental Leadership and Financial Performance Is Strengthening

One of the key findings highlighted in the report was the increasingly strong relationship between environmental leadership and financial performance. Leading companies with A and A– scores reported that every 1 dollar invested in environmental initiatives has the potential to generate approximately 4 dollars in financial value, whereas this figure remained at around 0.07 dollars for lower-performing companies.

A significant difference was also observed in risk management practices. For leading companies, approximately 0.43 dollars in expenditure was sufficient to manage an environmental risk costing 1 dollar, while lower-performing companies required approximately 5.9 dollars to manage the same risk. These findings indicate that leading companies integrate environmental risks and opportunities into financial planning processes more effectively.

A New Era: From Reporting to Implementation

According to the report, companies in Türkiye have reached a high level of maturity in core climate disclosure indicators. All companies report Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions, while Scope 3 disclosure has reached 98%. Climate oversight at board level and the use of scenario analyses have also become widespread.

However, there is still room for improvement in the implementation of transition tools for the low-carbon economy. While 70% of companies report having a climate transition plan aligned with the 1.5°C target, only 33% have made a clear commitment to phasing out fossil fuels. Although net-zero targets have become widespread, only 12% of these targets have been validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).

The report also emphasized the need to strengthen data infrastructure related to nature-based topics, improve target-setting approaches, and integrate environmental issues more strongly into decision-making processes.

Türkiye’s Alignment with Mandatory Reporting Frameworks Is Strengthening

Disclosures made through CDP indicate increasing alignment with mandatory sustainability reporting frameworks. As of 2025, alignment with the Türkiye Sustainability Reporting Standards (TSRS) reached 83%, while alignment with the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS) rose to 71%.

The report emphasized that the main areas for development for companies are linking generated information with financial systems, incorporating it into decision-making processes, and connecting it with transition plans.
