The first webinar of the “From Data to the Field” series, organized in collaboration with CDP Türkiye and the Nature Conservation Center (DKM), was held on 29 September 2026 under the title “Climate and Water: From Corporate Reporting to Impact on the Ground.”

The webinar focused on company data analyzed in the CDP Türkiye 2025 Climate and Nature Report, with a focus on climate and water. Discussions addressed how data, targets, and plans developed by companies in these areas translate into investment, operational, and management decisions; how corporate water management can move beyond the facility level towards the basin level; and how the outcomes of reported environmental activities can be assessed on the ground.

The first part of the webinar presented key findings from the CDP Türkiye 2025 Climate and Nature Report on climate and water. On climate, the discussion covered corporate targets, transition plans, carbon pricing, and emissions reduction initiatives. On water, the discussion focused on water risks, water-related targets, recycling and reuse, and approaches at the basin level.

The following panel brought together Aslıhan Korkmaz, Head of Department at the General Directorate of Water Management, Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of the Republic of Türkiye; Prof. Dr. Erhan Akça, Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts at Adıyaman University; and Neslihan Akgün Ergüven, Sustainability and EHS Director at ÇİMSA, who shared perspectives from the public sector, academia, and the private sector. The panel was facilitated by Mirhan Köroğlu Göğüş, Country Director of CDP Türkiye, and Dr. Uğur Zeydanlı, Chair of the Board of the Nature Conservation Center (DKM).

Aslıhan Korkmaz addressed how companies can better connect their water management practices with basin-level needs and Türkiye’s basin management plans, as well as how company-generated water data can contribute to basin management and planning by the public sector.

Prof. Dr. Erhan Akça discussed how climate adaptation, soil and water management, ecosystem resilience, and nature-based solutions can be incorporated more comprehensively into corporate climate strategies. He also addressed how environmental activities can be assessed in terms of their actual outcomes on the ground and how activities can be distinguished from measurable environmental impacts.

Neslihan Akgün Ergüven focused on how corporate climate and water data translate into investment and operational decisions, including the role of climate scenarios, carbon pricing, ETS preparations, and water stress analyses in investment planning and facility management. She also discussed the challenges companies face in implementing water-related targets in water-stressed regions, including water efficiency, reuse, and discharge management.

The panel included discussions on how corporate climate and water data are reflected in decision-making processes, how corporate water management can be connected to basin planning, the role of climate adaptation and nature-based solutions, and how the outcomes of environmental activities can be assessed on the ground.

The webinar concluded with a Q&A session addressing questions from participants.
