The Sustainability Platform Meeting of the Istanbul Chamber of Industry was held on 20 October 2026 at Odakule. Mirhan Köroğlu Göğüş, Country Manager of CDP Türkiye, participated in the meeting.
The meeting addressed COP31’s action agenda and global targets, with Türkiye set to host COP31 in Antalya, as well as green industrialisation and industrial decarbonisation initiatives, participation processes for the Blue Zone and Green Zone, and preparations by the private sector for COP31.
As part of COP31’s “implementation-oriented COP” approach, participants discussed ongoing efforts, the global targets for 2035, and initiatives being developed in line with these targets. Updates were also shared on initiatives focused on global electrification, green freight corridors, zero waste, methane emissions reduction, and green industrialisation.
The meeting also explored opportunities for participation and international cooperation at COP31. The importance of panels, institutional meetings, and joint events to be held in the Blue Zone and Green Zone in fostering collaboration was highlighted. Participants emphasised the need to transform commitments announced during COP31 into lasting programmes and measurable, trackable outcomes beyond the Summit.
Climate finance, technology and digital transformation, the circular economy, and the contributions of academia and civil society were also among the topics discussed. The importance of addressing climate policies holistically, taking into account their implications for industry, finance, technology, education, and broader societal transformation, was highlighted.
