CDP Turkey 2016 Water Program initiated by Sabancı University Corporate Governance Forum with the support of Garanti Bank has announced the 2016 results. Focusing on the protection of the World’s natural capital, the most powerful and effective non-governmental organization CDP, announced publicly the results of its program in scope of mobilizing the private sector for water resources on December 8, 2016, on Thursday, at the Zorlu Performing Arts Center.

In the second year of the CDP Turkey Water Program, 50 companies invited from Turkey consists of companies in sectors that are under high exposure of being affected by water linked risks in the BIST 100 index. This year in CDP Water Program, the number of respondents number from Turkey increased by 27 percent with a total of 19 companies. 58 percent of the reporting companies measure and track their water usage. 47 percent of the companies set targets to better manage their water resources. 79 percent of the companies reported that they integrated their water management strategies into all business strategies.

According to the new Global Water Report titled ‘Thirsty business: Why water is vital to climate action’, which includes the global results of the CDP Water Program 2016, a total of 24 companies around the world are proved their leadership and earned the right to enter the CDP Water’s A List. In the list, there are not any Turkish companies yet but 3 companies with leading positions in water management by scores of A- (Garanti Bank, Pınar Süt and Şekerbank) were awarded as the CDP Water Leaders of Turkey.
