A key milestone for global biodiversity action.

The State of Biodiversity Action report, published by United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres, is the first Global Report to assess collective progress in implementing the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework.

The report finds that action is being taken across different areas under the Global Biodiversity Framework, but that implementation must be rapidly scaled up if the world is to remain on track to meet the 2030 targets.

CDP data shows that the number of organisations publicly reporting that they have processes in place to identify, assess and manage their biodiversity-related dependencies, impacts and risks increased by approximately 19% in 2025, reaching 2,355 organisations. An increase in the number of companies with such processes was also observed across 42 geographic regions.

However, current progress is not yet sufficient. While the global assessment highlights the need for faster implementation, it also contributes to identifying concrete pathways to accelerate progress under Target 15. In the coming years, CDP will continue to work with countries to monitor and assess progress and contribute to strengthening the implementation of Target 15.

CDP provided data and findings to support the assessment of progress under Target 15.1 of the Global Biodiversity Framework and offers comprehensive publicly available datasets to support ongoing progress monitoring.
