As part of the preparations for COP31, which Türkiye will host, CDP Türkiye met with the President of the Directorate of Climate Change, Prof. Dr. Halil Hasar, and Deputy Presidents Tuğba Dinçbaş, Mehrali Ecer, and Orhan Solak.

The meeting focused on the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) 31st Conference of the Parties (COP31), which will be held in Antalya under Türkiye’s presidency this year. Discussions addressed recent developments in Türkiye’s climate policies, the COP31 preparation process, and opportunities to strengthen multi-stakeholder cooperation.

During the meeting, participants emphasized the role of companies in climate action, the contribution of data-driven sustainability approaches to decision-making processes, the importance of synergy between public institutions and established academic organizations, and the need to enhance corporate transparency. The parties underlined that COP31 presents an important opportunity to increase the international visibility of Türkiye’s capacity in climate governance.

Following the discussions and evaluations emerging from the meeting, CDP Türkiye Country Director Mirhan Köroğlu Göğüş also met with Hasan Özçelik, President of the Public Oversight, Accounting and Auditing Standards Authority (KGK), and Gülşah Günay, Head of the Sustainability Standards Department, to assess developments in sustainability reporting and climate-related financial disclosures in Türkiye. The meeting explored opportunities for cooperation aimed at strengthening transparency, reporting standards, and institutional capacity within the COP31 process.

Participants highlighted that COP31 should not only serve as an international climate summit but also create lasting impacts by accelerating the implementation of climate policies in Türkiye and strengthening coordination among stakeholders.
