Companies can now use CDP's up-to-date platform to share TNFD-aligned primary data directly with their stakeholders and the global market.
CDP's yearly questionnaire, which begins in June 2024 and runs until September, allows businesses to begin their Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) adoption journey. Companies can now use CDP's up-to-date platform to share TNFD-aligned primary data directly with their stakeholders and the global market. This program is intended to support global market players' reporting actions and needs.
CDP has been the main knowledge partner of the TNFD, which was established in 2021, and has contributed extensive research and market experience to the development of TNFD recommendations. The 2024 questionnaire is already partially aligned with the TNFD standards, and CDP intends to completely integrate these rules into its reporting platform. This alignment guarantees that businesses supply high-quality, comparable, and actionable environmental data to global financial markets.
TNFD takes an integrated approach to all aspects of nature - atmosphere, land, seas, and freshwater - and considers all nature-related impacts, hazards, and opportunities. This method is based on the The Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures’s (TCFD) recognizable structure and terminology, and it is consistent with the new International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) standards (S1 - General Requirements for Disclosure of Sustainability-related Financial Information and S2 - Climate-related Disclosures) and European Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) criteria. CDP is well-positioned to meet these full reporting obligations, having operated the sole nature disclosure platform for almost fifteen years.
The CDP platform enables TNFD disclosure data to be read and used by a wide range of global stakeholders. This approach addresses the market's requirement for consistent and high-quality nature-related data, which is essential for recognizing, assessing, and managing nature-related risks and opportunities. The continued collaboration between CDP and TNFD aims to improve environmental disclosure efficiency, allowing businesses to go beyond duplicative reporting and into meaningful action.
