Local governments continue to strengthen climate action by demonstrating leadership in environmental transparency. The results of CDP’s 2025 Cities A List highlight how this leadership is being put into practice. Under the CDP Cities Programme, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality and Ankara Metropolitan Municipality from Türkiye have earned a place on the 2025 Cities A List through their strong performance.

The Cities A List is based on cities’ disclosure of their climate-related risks, needs and opportunities, their ability to attract investment for priority projects, and their delivery of high-impact, scalable solutions. In line with these criteria, cities that translate their climate targets into concrete action are awarded an A score.

In 2025, 738 cities disclosed their environmental data through CDP. Among them, 120 cities received an A score in recognition of their strong performance in climate action and environmental transparency.

The inclusion of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality and Ankara Metropolitan Municipality on the Cities A List demonstrates the commitment of local governments in Türkiye to managing climate risks, strengthening environmental resilience and supporting sustainable development. Through the data disclosed to CDP, cities are better prepared for environmental shocks while also enhancing their potential to generate economic and social benefits.

Strengthening environmental resilience delivers positive impacts across multiple areas, including reduced costs, increased social inclusion and job creation. The CDP Cities Programme continues to support cities in advancing this transformation through a transparent, data-driven and effective approach.
