CDP Türkiye Webinar Series | COP29 Evaluation Meeting: What Awaits Companies?
The webinar took place on Wednesday, December 4.
Representatives from the public sector, private sector, and business community gathered during the webinar to evaluate the main outcomes of COP29 and their impacts on the business world.

Moderated by Mirhan Köroğlu Göğüş, CDP Türkiye Country Manager, the webinar began with Clare Everett, CDP Global Policy Manager, presenting developments at COP29 in terms of CDP and mandatory reporting.
Mehrali Ecer, Deputy Head of the Climate Change Department at the Turkish Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change, evaluated Türkiye's key COP29 outcomes and discussed significant developments such as the Emissions Trading System (ETS) and taxonomy. Gülşah Günay, Head of the Sustainability Standards Department at the Public Oversight, Accounting, and Auditing Standards Authority, shared insights on transparency and mandatory reporting. She outlined Türkiyes roadmap and adaptation process for transitioning to mandatory reporting and provided updates on reporting developments at COP29 and globally. Ünay Karpuz, Vice President of Sustainability at the Türkiye Wealth Fund (TVF), which operates across 31 companies and 7 sectors as a public affiliate, discussed the transformation of public companies on the upcoming agenda. Derya Özet Yalgı, Sustainability Director at Sabancı Holding, highlighted the implications of COP29 outcomes and the United Nations Biodiversity Conference (COP16) results for the private sector, emphasizing the importance of climate change and nature for businesses. Hüseyin Sözen, Sustainability Manager at Garanti BBVA, spoke about the changing dynamics in the financial sector following COP29, stressing the central role of financing in this transformation. He shared his insights on financial decisions made at COP29. Nurşen Numanoğlu, Deputy Secretary General of TÜSİAD, addressed the expectations of the business world post-COP29 and discussed the needs of companies, the changing trade system, and their adaptation to this transformation. Melda Çele, Secretary General of UN Global Compact Türkiye, commented on developments related to adaptation, just transition, and social policies, as well as expected developments in the coming period. Murat Gunaydin, Sustainability Services Leader at Deloitte Türkiye, shared insights from the Deloitte Pavilion at COP29 and discussed companies' demands and needs in consultancy.Gediz S. Kaya, Founding and Managing Partner of Gaia Climate, outlined what to expect in carbon markets in the coming period and emphasized the importance of carbon pricing. Tuba Seyyah, Climate Change Consultant, evaluated COP29 decisions on carbon markets, Article 6, and Türkiye's progress in the ETS process. Bekir Çetin, General Manager of Semtrio, shared strategies companies should adopt in the upcoming period and highlighted effective methods for sustainability reporting.
